Rogue Builds Updated for 4.3
RogueBuilds.com is a site that lists different talent builds for rogues of World of Warcraft. Many of these rogue builds come from forums, wowwiki or even myself. I hope you find the following builds useful.
Finding the right rogue build that has been tested and works can save you a lot of gold and time. It can cost a lot of money to re-spec and a lot of time testing builds so I made this site so you don't have to waste your time testing and looking for builds.
I also made this site to teach players the basics of how to play a rogue. I hope many players find this site useful.
News:
Patch 4.3 is now released and most of the proposed changes for rogues did not come to pass. The only change there is with this patch is wound poison now reduces players healing by 25%, this is a big change as it was just 10%.
Rogue Tier 13 Armor
2 Piece Set Bonus - After triggering Tricks of the Trade, your abilities cost 20% less energy for 6 sec.
4 Piece Set Bonus - Increases the duration of Shadow Dance by 2 sec, Adrenaline Rush by 3 sec, and Vendetta by 9 sec.
These bonuses will provide a decent increase in damage so it is well worth upgrading your gear from tier 12 to 13.

Rogue Builds, updated for 4.3
This area lists rogue talent builds for World of Warcraft.
Assassination Builds, Updated For 4.3
- Top assassination build This build is a very high dps build for raids, it does have a point that is in deadly momentum that can be used elsewhere. See the below picture as to optimal places to place this point.
- This is very similar to the build above however the dps is just a little bit less, this build sacrifices a point of opportunity for a point of precision.
- This is the standard assassination build used for PVP.
Raid Assassination Rotation:
Always start attack when possible in stealth with an assassination spec. Start with Garotte or Mutilate, Slice and Dice, then Mutilate till you have 4+ combo points and then Rupture. Repeat but use Envenom as finisher unless Rupture is about to fall off, keep up Slice and Dice.
When target is below 35% health you will then switch to Backstab as your main attack. Make sure your combos are 5 point combos at this point with Rupture and Envenom.
Combat Builds, Updated For 4.3
This is the default combat rogue raiding dps build the build I list has Improved Recuperate and Blade Twisting (two good talents) however points can be switched out from these 2 talents and placed in other combat talents without effecting DPS. So don't be afraid to move points around depending on your needs.
Rotation:
Start with Garotte then Slice and Dice, then Sinister Strike till you have 4 combo points and then Revealing Strike (don't wait till you have 5 combo points in revealing strike or you are wasting a combo point as revealing strike gives you a combo point) and then rupture. Repeat but use Eviscerate as finisher unless Rupture is about to fall off, keep up Slice and Dice.
Subtlety Builds, Updated For 4.3
- If you don't need the to hit then put the points into Coup de Grace and Ruthlessness from Precision.

- This is a level 85 build that should for raiding and has 1 point in enveloping shadows to help survival for AoE on boss encounters.

Rogue Leveling Build:
Usually I recommend using a combat build for leveling. I have listed the main combat build you may want to start with as it does a lot of sustained damage and is very good for PVE and for groups. To use this build just pick these talents in order:
Basically the meat of this build is combat and it is setup to burn down mobs fast, this is a well rounded combat leveling build.
This build focus's on combat weapons so stick with a slow weapon weapon in your main hand and a fast one in your off hand. Your main hand weapon should be slow a sword, mace or fist weapon. Your offhand weapon should be a fast weapon usually a dagger with good stats.
Daggers were mainly associated with PVP builds. Mutilate has become a very popular build due to the huge damage output it can now do. With the change to mutilate now you no longer have to be behind your target. Daggers can be used for PVE and PVP now without sacrificing damage output. A mutilate leveling build is also viable.
You have some room as to what glyphs you use besides the ones I mentioned above. Also remember that glyphs have minimum level for what ones you can use, keep that in mind when determining what glyphs you are going to use.
How to Play a Rogue.
Learning how to play a rogue is a bit easier than it is to master most classes as we do not use a lot of skills compared to some.
The main things you should know as a rogue is:
1. What Build To Use - Combat use to be the best for PVE in raids but now subtlety or assassination are the top damage builds. This can and probably will change, usually they try to make the builds pretty even.
2. Rogue Gear - Rogue gear is a part of how much damage you can do. I recommend using Shadow Panther as this is a very good site for ranking rogue gear and lists stats and a link of where the gear comes from. There is a big difference on the gear you want for PVP or for PVE. The stats you want on your gear varies depending on the type of build. Also do not forget to reforge gear and gem to make sure you are getting to your hit caps, exp caps and so forth then focus in on what is important to the build/tree you are using.
3. Combat Rotations - What a rotation is is basically the order you cast your spells/skills in, usually they are priority driven as proc's usually make it so you can't just cast X sinister strikes, before hitting rupture for instance. A rotation is continuously repeated throughout a fight and will help maximize DPS. Face rolling buttons will not max your DPS, unless you are a very bad player :)
4. Skills - Rupture is the best finishing move that can be used on most bosses or mobs that take a long time to die. The key is to not use rupture over and over again though, only reapply at 5 points if it is about to fall off. Exceptions are if the boss/mob is immune to rupture or if the mob will die before a rupture can go through its full set of ticks. Rotations on bosses should always use rupture unless they are immune to this.
Revealing Strike is one of the new skills that was just added in 4.0.1 and it makes your next finishing move hit hard, this is a good skill to use when you have 4 combo points as using this skill adds another combo point to the target and you can immediately follow it up by a finishing move.
On mobs/bosses where you have to interrupt spells/abilities make sure you save enough energy to kick, kidney shot or gouge.
Recuperate is another new skill that allows you to gain health over time, even while in combat. The good thing about recuperate, as well as slice and dice is that you can activate it with the unused combo points of a mob you just killed. Try to keep recuperate up as much as you can at it will reduce down time while leveling and slice and dice will increase your damage per second.
Make sure you use your cool downs when they are up but try to use them when they will be of most use though. An unused cool down is a wasted cooldown. Most of our cool downs do not take long to come back so do not be afraid to use them.
5. Poisons - In PVE usually Deadly poison should always be on the offhand weapon and your main hand weapon should be instant poison. If you are an assassination rogue you will also want to use deadly poison on your thrown weapon if you are going to be making us of fan of knives. You will want to make sure you use fan of knives at least five times to make sure all the poison is stacked on all of the mobs to max. Now for PVP poison use is situation you may want to use crippling poison to slow you target now, wounding to keep them from healing as good or so forth. It depends a lot on who you are going against as to what poisons you should be using.
